Get to know Janet a little better..

Janet (Miller) Romano was born in Rochester, raised in Brimfield and Sturbridge, Massachusetts. She returned to upstate New York in the early 1970’s. New England is still one of her favorite places to vacation. Some special friends still live in the area, and provide a delightful reason to keep going back to visit all of the New England states.

In the late 1970’s, Janet earned her New York State Real Estate license. Homes were easy to obtain, and she made her first investment at age 28. From then on, she was sold on the benefits of home ownership! Janet worked for a small firm in Irondequoit, New York and lived near that office. After her purchase of a condo, she moved to Greece, NY to a family owned Real Estate Company closer to home. There she learned appraising and a variety of other related services.

Over a decade later, Janet was hired in the Payroll Department at Eastman Kodak. Thinking she was hired for life, and dating her now husband, she decided to let her Real Estate license go. But within a short time, the dream job ended. Corporate “Down-sizing” bit into the staff.

Not one to sit around moping, Janet returned to school, earning both her B.S. in Health Science and a Master’s degree in Psychology. Then she began giving back to the community through adjunct instruction at Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York. There, Janet acquired many technological and computer skills necessary to compete in today’s market. Teaching General Psychology to a variety of age groups gave her the confidence to confront any situation effectively.

During the stressful downsizing process, Janet married the sweet man who had stayed by all the turmoil, Wayne Romano. (Some of you may know him as the proprietor of Master Car Care located at 3894 Buffalo Road.) Janet often jokes that when she found the BEST auto mechanic in Rochester, she wanted to be sure he was always available! By marrying a widower, Janet has a wonderful instant family - 4 grown stepchildren, and over the years she has become the proud grandmother of 7 grandkids!

In 2001, Janet resumed her Real Restate career, returning to the office she had left. The business had changed drastically, especially in the field of technology. Determined to find a company that met her needs for new, manageable technology, Janet interviewed other companies and found a great fit at Nothnagle Realtors in 2006.
